... Wind Advisory in effect from 2 am to 11 am PDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Wind Advisory...
which is in effect from 2 am to 11 am PDT Saturday.

* Timing: beginning shortly after midnight tonight continuing into
late Saturday morning.

* Winds: 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 55 mph. Local gusts up to 60
mph will be possible for wind prone areas.

* Impacts: winds will be capable of bringing down tree limbs and
may blow away unsecured outdoor items like patio furniture or
camping gear.

* Blowing dust: restrictions to visibility for motorist down to 1
mile at times. Visibility will be poorest around the Smoke Creek
and Black Rock deserts where restrictions on the playa may be
lower.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Motorists... especially in high profile vehicles... should use
caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or cross winds. Secure
outdoor gear such as camping gear and patio furniture. Tree limbs
may be blown down as well due to denser foliage.

Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 4:07 AM PDT on August 28, 2015

... Red flag warning in effect from 4 am to 6 PM PDT Saturday for
strong winds and low fuel moistures for the eastern Sierra and
portions of western Nevada...

The National Weather Service in Reno has upgraded the Fire Weather
Watch to a red flag warning for strong winds and low fuel
moistures... which is in effect from 4 am to 6 PM PDT Saturday.

* Affected area... fire zone 273 Mono-eastern alpine counties...
fire zone 450 western Nevada Sierra front and fire zone 453 west
central Nevada basin and range.

* Winds... southwest to west 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45
mph. Locally stronger gusts up to 55 mph in wind prone areas.
Sierra ridge wind gusts up to 70 mph.

* Humidity... limited recovery between 35 and 45 percent
tonight... then lowering to between 15 and 25 percent on
Saturday.

* Impacts... although daytime humidity values will be higher than
is typical for August... the duration and strength of winds
along with the low fuel moistures will create critical fire
weather conditions.
