... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 530 PM PDT for
Sierra... southern Washoe and Storey counties...

At 315 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain over Stead and Cold Springs. Light to moderate rainfall
continues to fall across the rest of Reno/Sparks.

Flash flooding is occurring or expected to begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Reno... Virginia City... Sparks... damonte ranch... caughlin ranch...
Spanish Springs... northwest Reno... Hidden Valley... Lemmon
Valley-Golden Valley... Verdi-Mogul... Stead... Reno-Tahoe international

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 445 PM PDT for
southern Washoe... west central Lyon... north central Douglas and
Storey counties and Carson City...

At 254 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated moderate rainfall continues
to occur. Flash flooding is occurring or expected to begin shortly
with the main threat from Moundhouse to Dayton.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Carson City... Dayton... Johnson Lane... Indian HIlls... Carson City
Airport... US 50 at Carson City-Lyon co line... Lakeview... US 395 at
Douglas-Carson City co line... Stewart... Rawe Peak... Dayton Valley
Airpark... Junction U.S 50 and Six Mile Canyon-ft Churchill Rd...
Junction U.S 50 and NV 341... Washoe Lake campground and Six Mile

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This is a very dangerous situation! Runoff will quickly flood low

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 400 PM PDT for
alpine... El Dorado... northern Mono... southeastern Lyon and Douglas
counties...

At 243 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Although the heaviest rainfall is
diminishing water may be slow to recede and the threat for debris
flows and mudslides continue in the area particularly across far
southeast Lyon County.

areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM PDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of California and western Nevada... including the
following areas... in California... greater Lake Tahoe area...
Lassen-eastern Plumas-eastern Sierra counties and Mono. In
western Nevada... greater Lake Tahoe area... greater Reno-Carson
City-Minden area and Mineral and southern Lyon counties.

* Until 9 PM PDT this evening

* strong thunderstorms will persist into the evening. These storms
will be capable of producing torrential rain and flash
flooding.

* Much of the region has a higher potential for flash flooding due
to the very heavy rainfall over the last two days. Rapid runoff
may occur with only moderate rainfall totals.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Areas at greatest risk for a flash flood include burn scars...
locations already impacted by flash flooding Sunday and Monday...
poorly drained urban areas and locations near steep terrain.
Mud... rock and debris flows may impact travel... never attempt to
drive through flood waters.

Springs to Fallon through 430 PM...

* at 307 PM PDT... National Weather Service meteorologists were
tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from fort
Churchill station to near Wabuska to northeast of Walker
Lake... and moving north at 20 mph.

* Half inch hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with
these storms. This may produce an area of blowing dust that could
impact Highway 95 south of Fallon and Highway 50 east of Carson
City to Fallon.

* These storms are also producing periods of very heavy rain. This
will likely result in ponding water on roadways, and possible
flash flooding in low spots, normally dry washes, and steep
terrain.

* Locations impacted through 430 PM include...
Fallon... Lahontan Reservoir... Fernley... Stagecoach... Wabuska...

At 253 PM PDT... Doppler radar was tracking a strong gust front
extending from Cold Springs valley to near Hazen... and moving
north at 40 mph.

Wind gusts up to 55 mph will be possible with this gust front.
Storms may also develop along this gust front. Watch for areas of
blowing dust and reduced visibility.

Pyramid Lake... Nixon... Sutcliffe... Trinity Junction... Lovelock
Derby Field Airport... Wadsworth... I-80 between Reno and
Lovelock... and Fernley Sink near I-80.

indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember... lightning can strike out to
