Nowcast | as of 1:32 PM MST on March 4, 2015

Periodic snow showers will be most prevalent across the southeast plains and along the east slopes of the northern Sacramento Mountains through 3 PM. Periodic snow in the form of small flakes will impact the rest of the eastern plains...east slopes and high peaks of the Sangre de Cristos as well as adjacent High Plains to the central mountains through the mid afternoon. Additional snow accumulation will be a half an inch or less although the unusually cold temperatures will lead to some travel issues on area roadways across the east. Wind chills readings will be in the lower to mid teens in areas.

Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 12:18 PM MST on March 04, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight MST
tonight...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow... blowing snow and freezing
drizzle remains in effect until midnight MST tonight.

* Snow accumulations... around 1 inch below 6000 feet and 1 to 3
inches above 6000 feet. While not a lot of snow will fall... there
will be a light glaze of ice from freezing drizzle and freezing
fog on highways... making travel extremely hazardous.

* Timing... freezing drizzle and light snow will continue through
early this evening before tapering off before midnight.

* Winds... north to northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35
mph. The strongest winds will occur along the Texas state
line.

* Snow levels... temperatures will be cold enough for freezing
drizzle and snow at all locations.

* Local impacts... difficult travel conditions will develop today
due to snow packed and icy roads. Visibilities will be reduced
in snow and blowing snow... as well as freezing fog. This includes
Interstate 40 from near Santa Rosa east to Texas and Interstate
25 near Las Vegas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
visibilities will be restricted due to a combination of falling
and blowing snow.
