Nowcast | as of 2:20 PM MDT on July 22, 2014

At 220 PM MDT...isolated thunderstorms were beginning to form over the San Andres Mountains...and portions of the lowland deserts in southern New Mexico. Meanwhile...stronger thunderstorms over the Sacramento Mountains were beginning to spread southward towards the Otero Mesa. Outflow from the Sacramento Mountain storms will spread out across the Tularosa basin...and will help enhance thunderstorms over the San Andres Mountains and The Lowlands...as well as initiate new thunderstorm development. Thunderstorms that form this afternoon and evening will be very slow moving...and may produce locally torrential downpours...wind gusts to 40 mph...and even some small hail.
