The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
central Valencia County in central New Mexico...

* until 715 PM MDT

* at 540 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms over Los Lunas. These storms will
be capable of producing a quick one half inch to three quarters of
an inch of rainfall. Urban drainages and low lying areas will be
especially susceptible to flooding.

* Locations impacted include...
Los Lunas... Belen... Valencia... Bosque Farms... Tome... Rio
communities... Rio communities north... Los Trujillos-Gabaldon... El
Cerro mission and Los Chaves.

This includes Interstate 25 between mile markers 190 and 207.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of north and central nm... including the following
areas... Estancia valley... Jemez Mountains... lower Chama River
Valley... lower Rio Grande Valley... middle Rio Grande
Valley/Albuquerque Metro area... northern Sangre de Cristos above
9500 feet/Red River... northwest Highlands... San Juan Mountains...
Sandia/Manzano Mountains... Santa Fe Metro area... south Central
Highlands... south central mountains... southern Sangre de Cristos
above 9500 feet... Southwest Mountains... upper Rio Grande Valley...
west Central Highlands... west central mountains and west slopes
Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

* Until 4 am MDT Tuesday

* a back door cold front moving into the area will continue to
focus numerous slow moving showers and thunderstorms through the
overnight. Due to a very moist and unstable atmosphere in
place... any storm will be capable of very heavy rain. Slow
moving or training storms will exacerbate the flash flooding
threat. One to two inches of rain is likely... with locally
higher amounts possible.

* Burn scar areas and very steep terrain... locations that have
received recent heavy rainfall... and urban drainages will be the
most susceptible to flash flooding if heavy rainfall develops.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.

* until 645 PM MDT

* at 446 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms developing over Albuquerque. These
storms will be capable of producing a quick one half inch of rain
with locally higher amounts through 645 PM. Strong gusty outflow
winds are also likely with these storms.

* Locations impacted include...
Albuquerque... southwestern Rio Rancho... Corrales... Los Ranchos de
Albuquerque... Tijeras... Isleta Pueblo... Paradise Hills... Taylor
Ranch... Ventana ranch and Sandia heights.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between mile markers 149 and 177.
Interstate 25 between mile markers 211 and 235.
