A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to noon MST Tuesday above 6000 feet.
* Timing... valley rain and mountain snow will develop Monday with widespread valley rain and significant mountain snow expected Monday night and Tuesday.
* Snow accumulations... for locations above 7000 feet... 12 to 18 inches of snow is possible. Between 6000 and 7000 feet... 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected.
* Snow levels... snow levels will initially be around 7000 feet Monday afternoon... then fall to 5000 feet Tuesday morning.
* Winds... breezy to windy with south to southwest winds of 15 to 30 mph and gusts to 45 mph especially across the higher terrain.
* Impacts... significant snowfall is expected above 6000 feet. The strong and gusty south to southwest winds will result in areas of blowing snow... reducing visibilities below a quarter mile at times. Travel conditions will be extremely hazardous. Some roads may become impassable... especially due to drifting of snow and significant accumulation by Tuesday morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means heavy snow accumulations are expected. Gusty winds and blowing snow is also possible. This will make travel very difficult or impossible... especially in the mountains.

Wind Advisory
Statement as of 4:31 AM MST on December 07, 2009
... Wind Advisory in effect from 11 PM this evening to noon MST Tuesday...
The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 11 PM this evening to noon MST Tuesday.
* Timing... breezy to locally windy south winds this evening will become windy southwest winds by midnight. These winds will persist until mid-morning... before shifting to the west and slowly decreasing through mid-day Friday.
* Winds... south winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 35 mph this evening will shift to the southwest and increase to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph by midnight. Strong winds will persist into the mid-morning hours then shift to the west by mid-day and decrease. Winds in the higher terrain... especially those locations above 8000 feet... will be much stronger... with sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with occasional wind gusts to 60 mph possible.
* Impacts... the strong and gusty winds will accompany widespread valley rainfall and significant mountain snowfall. In the mountains... these winds will result in blowing snow... with near whiteout conditions possible in elevations above 8000 feet with the strongest winds. Blowing dust is unlikely to accompany these winds in the valleys given the chances for moderate rainfall... localized dry soils may be still be present tonight that will allow for localized areas of blowing dust reducing visibilities below a half mile at times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or greater are expected... along with higher gusts. This could make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
