Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 9:06 PM MDT on August 29, 2015

... The Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1015 PM MST for eastern
Maricopa County...

At 904 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain
cotinued across much of the advisory area... with locally over one
inch of accumulation. This will cause minor urban flooding in the
advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mesa... Chandler... Gilbert... Tempe... Arizona State
University... fiesta mall and Tempe marketplace.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.

... The Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
1015 PM MST for east central Maricopa and central Pinal counties...

At 900 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain was beginning to
end across the advisory area. However... radar estimated between one
and two inches of rain had fallen earlier in the evening. This has
caused Urban and Small Stream flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Gilbert... Apache Junction... Florence... Coolidge... East Mesa... san
tan valley... Superstition Mountains... Magma... Freestone park... Lost
Dutchman State Park and Florence Junction.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
