Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 5:47 PM CDT on July 06, 2015

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Lubbock County in northwestern Texas...

* until 845 PM CDT

* at 544 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms over much of Lubbock County. This will cause Urban
and Small Stream flooding in the advisory area. Some locations
have already received a half inch to an inch of rain... with
additional heavy rain expected which could drop another quick 1 to
2 inches.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lubbock... Slaton... Abernathy... Wolfforth... Shallowater... Idalou...
Ransom Canyon... Texas tech University and New Deal.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few
inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
