Nowcast | as of 4:33 PM CDT on October 20, 2014

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue across portions of the south and rolling plains through the afternoon...with the greatest coverage across the northern South Plains. While the strongest cells will be capable of producing small hail...gusty winds...cloud to ground lightning and brief heavy downpours...severe weather is not expected. These storms are expected to continue to move slowly towards the northwest at between 5 and 10 miles per hour. While individual storms may be capable of producing brief periods of heavy rainfall...the limited size of these storms will confine any significant rainfall to very isolated regions. Totals of a quarter to a half of an inch of rain will be possible in these very limited areas...but in most areas rain totals will be much lower...perhaps only a few hundredths of an inch.
