Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 11:20 PM CDT on May 04, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 am CDT Tuesday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northwest Texas and the Panhandle of Texas...
including the following areas... in northwest Texas... Bailey...
Cochran... Crosby... Floyd... Garza... Hale... Hockley... Lamb...
Lubbock... Lynn... Terry and Yoakum. In the Panhandle of Texas...
   Briscoe... Castro... Parmer and Swisher.

* Until 7 am CDT Tuesday

* widespread showers and thunderstorms will continue over much of
the watch area overnight. Flash flooding and Road closures have
already occurred over portions of the southern South Plains
where between 2 and 7 inches of rain has fallen... with some
locally higher amounts in excess of 11 inches southwest of
Tahoka.

* An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected
overnight... especially in the far southern South Plains east to
Garza County.

* The heavy rain will produce rapid runoff which may result in
areas of flash flooding and inundation flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible. Flash
flooding at night is a very dangerous situation.
