Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:39 PM CDT on May 22, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from midnight CDT tonight through
Saturday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for the southern Texas Panhandle... South
Plains and rolling plains.

* From midnight CDT tonight through early Saturday afternoon.

* Thunderstorms are expected to develop in eastern New Mexico and
southwest Texas this evening before organizing into a complex or
two and spreading northeastward across the South Plains region
through Saturday morning. Very intense rain rates will occur with
the strongest storms... bringing the risk of inundation and flash
flooding.

* Rainfall totals around 1 inch will be common... with 2 to 3 plus
inches possible where storms track repeatedly over the same
area.

* Rapid runoff through saturated soils may result in flash
flooding of urban areas... along rivers and creeks... and other
flood prone areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
