A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to move towards the northeast at around 35 to 40 mph. The main hazards with this line of thunderstorms will be damaging straight line winds...and perhaps quarter sized hail. Heavy rain and a brief tornado will also be possible. Additional showers and thunderstorms will also develop ahead of the main line along the Highway 281 corridor. Otherwise...expect mostly to partly cloudy skies across much of north and central Texas. Temperatures will climb into the mid 70s and low 80s. Additional thunderstorm development will be possible through the afternoon hours. These thunderstorms will likely become severe and will be capable of producing large hail...destructive winds and a few tornadoes. Heavy rain will also likely result in flash flooding.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 715 PM CDT for
Navarro and Freestone counties...

At 656 PM CDT... emergency management reported flash flooding in
Navarro and Freestone counties. Up to three inches of rain have
already fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

Blooming Grove... Angus... Barry... Navarro... Fairfield Lake State

the Trinity River at Trinidad.
* At 0200 PM Monday the stage was 42.61 feet.
* Flood stage is 33 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 44 feet by
Saturday afternoon. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Chambers creek near Rice.
* At 0200 PM Monday the stage was 29.18 feet.
* Flood stage is 24 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to a crest near 30 feet
by Tuesday afternoon. The river should fall below flood stage
Friday afternoon.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM CDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north and central Texas... along and east of a
Sherman to Dallas to Hillsboro to Lampasas.

* Until 9 PM CDT this evening

* as an upper level disturbance tracks across the region...
severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will occur. The soil
is already saturated... so any additional heavy rainfall will
cause flash flooding.

* Average rainfall of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts is
expected through this evening.
