Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 4:08 PM CDT on August 30, 2015

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
south central Hughes County in southeastern Oklahoma...
central Coal County in southeastern Oklahoma...

* until 700 PM CDT

* at 401 PM CDT... National Weather Service radar indicated heavy rain
that will cause small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to
2 inches of rain has fallen in the past hour from just south of
Tupelo into northern Coal and southern Hughes counties. An
additional 1 to 2 inches of rain will likely occur in these areas
over the next couple of hours.

* Some locations that will experience minor flooding include
Tupelo... Centrahoma and Clarita.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country
roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low
lying areas are subject to flooding.

In hilly terrain many roads include low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find an alternate Route. It takes only a few inches
of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
