Nowcast | as of 8:34 am CDT on September 18, 2014

At 8:30 am... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated extensive coverage of showers and thunderstorms across much of northeast Oklahoma and over extreme northwest Arkansas. Most of the showers and storms were located to the north of I 40 and were racing toward the southwest at 35 mph... into central Oklahoma. Through 10:00 am...showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue to spread toward the southwest... and begin to dissipate over northeast Oklahoma. Locations north of I 40 are most likely to be affected however... showers and storms will be affecting locations along and south of the Interstate as well. Brief heavy rainfall and cloud to ground lightning will accompany the storms. Average hourly rainfall rates are expected to vary from several hundredths to a quarter of an inch. As much as half an inch could fall in less than one hour from the strongest of storms.
