Rainfall amounts up from one quarter to one half inch...and isolated areas of inch or more are possible. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall...and gusty winds. Ponding on roadways...and already saturated grounds...in conjunction with full creeks...bayous...and rivers...may lead to flash flooding. Motorists are urged to use caution...and not drive into water covered roadways.

for central Union County in south central Arkansas and north central
Union parishes...

At 253 PM CDT... a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles southwest
of strong... or 14 miles west of Huttig... moving northeast at 50 mph.

Hazard... 60 mph wind gusts.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... expect damage to roofs... siding and trees.

Flood Warning
Statement as of 1:45 PM CDT on May 24, 2015

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ouachita River at Felsenthal, Arkansas.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At noon Sunday the pool stage was 73.3 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood pool stage is 70 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 76.0 feet by
June 8. Additional rises remain possible thereafter.
* Impact... at 75.0 feet... flooding in the Felsenthal National Wildlife
Refuge will continue through mid June.

... Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Ouachita River at Thatcher l&d.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:00 am Sunday the water surface elevation was 85.6 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood elevation is 79.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 90.0 feet by
June 4th. Heavy rain is expected over the next two days
and this forecast will likely change. Please monitor the river forecasts
from the National Weather Service in Little Rock closely
over the next few days.
* Impacts at 90.0 feet... access to Thatcher lock and dam may be affected.
Many oil and gas rigs in the river bottoms can be reached by boat only.
Runoff into Calion Lake cannot drain to the river. Levee gates should be closed.
Downstream, minor impacts to the Moro Bay State Park, some shallow water may be
over the Road to the campground.

* showers and thunderstorms will continue over the area this
afternoon and overnight southeast Oklahoma... southwest
Arkansas... East Texas and northwest and north central
Louisiana... ahead of a strong upper level disturbance.That will
lift northeast across the region. Locally heavy rainfall will
occur in the stronger storms... falling over already saturated
grounds. Rainfall amounts of one to three inches... with isolated
higher amounts... are expected this afternoon and tonight.
Another strong upper level disturbance will move through the
region late Monday afternoon and Monday night... resulting in
another round of locally heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts with
this second system will range from two to in excess of four
inches... with the two day storm total amounts ranging from three
to six inches... with locally higher amounts. This will result in
increased runoff and flash flooding.Al for flash flooding.

* Low lying and poor drainage areas... especially in the vicinity
of rapidly rising creeks and very heavy rainfall... will be most
prone to flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Do not cross moving water on roadways... bridges... and at low
water crossings. Road surfaces and culverts can be washed out.

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles attempting to cross in high water.
