... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to 9 am
CST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for freezing rain and sleet... which is in effect
from 6 PM this evening to 9 am CST Thursday. The Winter Storm
Watch is no longer in effect.

* Event... rain will transition to freezing rain and eventually to
sleet and snow as cold air on the surface and aloft spreads over
the area.

* Timing... winter precipitation in the form of freezing rain is
expected during the evening hours followed by a transition to
sleet and snow after midnight.

* Impact... freezing rain and sleet accumulations of up to a
quarter of an inch... and snow accumulations of up to one inch
will make driving conditions hazardous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

... Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 6 am
CST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a lake Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 6 am
CST Thursday.

* Event... high pressure building behind a strong cold front will
bring north winds up to 20 mph with higher gusts late this
afternoon and tonight.

* Timing... winds will increase to around 20 mph along the
Interstate 30 corridor and spread southward late this afternoon
and into the overnight hours. Winds to diminish around sunrise
Thursday morning across deep East Texas and west central Louisiana.

* Impact... boaters should exercise caution due to rough chop on
area lakes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
