Special Statement
Statement as of 8:21 AM CDT on August 29, 2015

... Pockets of dense fog lingering for a short time longer this
morning...

Through 9 or 10 am... fog will persist across several counties in
central and south central Nebraska... along with mainly the Smith
and Jewell County area of north central Kansas. Although not all
that widespread in coverage... there will still be some lingering
dense fog... reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less in some spots.
This includes the Highway 281 corridor... and communities such as
Grand Island... Hastings... St. Paul and Red Cloud. As fog continues
to slowly dissipate... visibilities will be highly variable over
the next few hours... creating hazardous driving conditions.
Drivers should be prepared for drastic changes in visibility over
short distances. Use low beam headlights... and leave plenty of
distance between you and the vehicles ahead of you.

Visibilities will continue to improve over the next few
hours... with the vast majority of dense fog gone by 10 am.
