Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:35 PM CDT on May 27, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Thursday morning through
Friday evening...

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Kansas... south
central Kansas and southeast Kansas... including the following
areas... in central Kansas... Chase. In south central Kansas...
Butler and Cowley. In southeast Kansas... Allen... Chautauqua...
Elk... Greenwood... Labette... Montgomery... Neosho... Wilson and
Woodson.

* From Thursday morning through Friday evening.

* A couple of rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move across
south central Kansas and southeast Kansas for Thursday and
Friday. Given saturated grounds... any additional rainfall will
aggravate existing flooding or result in renewed flooding in the
watch area. Runoff from the rainfall may lead to rapid rises on
rivers and streams.

* Those with outdoor plans or with residences along creeks and
rivers need to monitor the weather situation closely for the
next couple of days.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Remember to turn around... don't drown.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
