653 am CDT Wed Aug 5 2015

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
southern Butler County in south central Kansas...
central Sedgwick County in south central Kansas...

* until 1045 am CDT

* at 651 am CDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain which will cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain has
already fallen with additional rainfall likely this morning.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita... Derby... Andover... Haysville... Augusta... Park city... Bel
Aire... Mulvane... Goddard... Rose Hill... Maize... Douglass...
Colwich... Mount Hope... Leon... downtown Wichita... Andale...
Eastborough... Latham and south Wichita.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 135 between mile markers 0 and 13.
Interstate 35 between mile markers 34 and 66.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses in urban areas.
Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of
creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.
