Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:43 AM CDT on May 29, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Saturday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri...
including the following areas... in southeast Kansas...
Bourbon... Cherokee and Crawford. In southwest Missouri...
Barton... Jasper... McDonald... Newton and Vernon.

* Through Saturday evening

* multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected today and
tomorrow. This rain will be falling on saturated or nearly
saturated soil... resulting in an increased risk for flash
flooding.

* Small streams... creeks... and area rivers will be especially
susceptible to flash flooding. Those floating or camping on or
near area rivers should be alert for rapid rises of water levels.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
