... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Saturday evening through
Monday evening...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and
Missouri... including the following areas... in southeast
Kansas... Bourbon... Cherokee and Crawford. In Missouri...
Barry... Barton... Benton... Cedar... Christian... Dade... Greene...
Hickory... Jasper... Lawrence... McDonald... Morgan... Newton...
Polk... St. Clair... stone... Taney and Vernon.

* From Saturday evening through Monday evening

* multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will impact
southeastern Kansas and southwestern Missouri this weekend.
Rainfall will gradually increase from west to east with rainfall
increasing in coverage and intensity Saturday night through
Sunday night and Memorial Day. Total rainfall amounts of one
and a half to near three inches are expected by Memorial Day.

* This excessive rainfall may result in flash flooding of small
streams and low water crossings as well as significant rises and
flooding of some main Stem rivers.

River basins potentially impacted by heavy rainfall and flooding
include the Osage and Little Osage... Marmaton... Elk... and Spring
River basins.

Those with outdoor recreational plans this Memorial Day weekend
including camping and floating along area Scenic rivers and
streams should be alert for rising water levels.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
