... Accumulating snows possible across southern Illinois... southwest Indiana and northwest Kentucky today...
A band of light snow is expected to move across southern Illinois... southwest Indiana and northwest Kentucky today. The light snow should start to move east into southern Illinois after 9 am this morning... reaching southwest Indiana and northwest Kentucky around noon.
Up to 1 inch will be possible along and north of a line from Pinckneyville Illinois to Evansville Indiana... including Interstate 64 and portions of Interstate 57. Accumulations will be lighter south of this line... with a minor dusting possible as far south as a Jackson Missouri to Calhoun Kentucky line. A half inch will be possible along the Highway 13 corridor in southern Illinois ... As well as in the Henderson and Owensboro Kentucky areas.
The light snow is expected to be a relatively dry snow. This coupled with gusty west to southwest winds at 10 to 20 mph should mean only minor impacts on travel. However... a few slick spots may develop where visibilities are briefly reduced to a mile or less with the heaviest snowfall. Motorists on Interstate 64 and Interstate 57 near Mt Vernon Illinois will be most likely to encounter reduced speeds... and possibly some brief slick driving conditions.
The snow is expected to be completely east of southern Illinois by mid to late afternoon... and out of southwest Indiana and northwest Kentucky by around sunset.
