Statement as of 4:47 PM EST on February 28, 2015

... Period of light snow this evening through Sunday afternoon...

Snow will overspread northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana
starting this evening. Approximate start times include roughly
from 5 to 6 PM west of a Pontiac to Paxton line and then by 8pm
to 9pm from Rockford to Chicago to Valparaiso. Once the first
round of snow begins... expect a roughly 3 to 4 hour window of
steady light to occasionally moderate snowfall rates. By around
midnight tonight... accumulations will range from dusting up to an
inch of snow along and north of Interstate 88... and 1 to 2 inches
to the south. The snow will then focus mainly south of Interstate
80 overnight into Sunday afternoon... with little to no additional
accumulation north of Interstate 80. Through Sunday
afternoon... total snowfall is expected to range from a dusting to
up to 2 inches north of the Interstate 80 corridor... one to three
inches near and just south of Interstate 80 and two to five inches
south of a Valparaiso to Streator line. Isolated amounts near 6
inches are possible by Sunday afternoon across southern portions
of Ford... Iroquois and Benton counties.

Motorists should prepare for the potential for some slippery
travel... especially on less traveled and untreated
roadways... later this evening into Sunday.
