Dense Smoke Advisory, Lake Wind Advisory
Statement as of 8:12 PM MDT on June 29, 2015

... Dense smoke advisory in effect until 6 am MDT Tuesday...
... Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect from 9 am to 9 PM MDT
Tuesday for Fort Peck Lake...

The National Weather Service in Glasgow has issued a dense smoke
advisory... which is in effect until 6 am MDT Tuesday. A lake Wind
Advisory for Fort Peck Lake remains in effect from 9 am to 9 PM
MDT Tuesday.

* Timing... expect winds to increase on the west end of the lake
by 9 am and in the dam area by noon.

* Winds... northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph. Some higher gusts
possible.

* Visibility... less than a mile at times.

* Impacts... choppy waters and high waves possible which could
tipor swamp small craft. With winds from the northwest... the
Dry Arm will likely see the biggest swells.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People with health issues should stay indoors with air
conditioning if possible. Seek medical attention if necessary.

Boaters should use extreme caution if venturing onto Fort Peck
Lake. For your personal safety... avoid the open waters. Stay
close to shore or around protected areas.

A dense smoke advisory means widespread fires will create smoke...
limiting visibilities. If driving... slow down... use your
headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a
sudden stop is needed.
