Statement as of 3:15 PM CST on February 08, 2010 ... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon CST Tuesday... A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon CST Tuesday. * Timing... periods of moderate snow will continue into this evening... with a gradual tapering overnight into Tuesday morning. * Main impact... overnight accumulations of 1 to 3 inches across east central Minnesota... including the Twin Cities. Additional snowfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches can be expected over south central Minnesota. Storm total snowfall amounts by Tuesday morning... since Sunday... between 6 and 11 inches. * Other impacts... gusty north winds will develop... resulting in areas of blowing and drifting snow... significantly reducing visibilities... especially over south central Minnesota. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. |
