Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 11:12 AM CST on March 03, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CST this
evening...

* short term trends... freezing drizzle has ended over north
central Iowa... and will by around noontime farther south and
east toward Waterloo. However snow showers and gusty northwest
winds are expected to develop later this afternoon producing
significant visibility restrictions... especially in rural open
areas.

* Storm total snow accumulations... less than one inch.

* Winds/visibility... northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts
over 40 mph will likely cause periods of visibility
restrictions of less than one half mile at times during the
afternoon and early evening hours.

* Impacts... the combination of slick roads from previous icing and
visibility restrictions in snow showers and gusty northwest
winds will make for hazardous travel into the afternoon and
early evening hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be
prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and
use caution while driving.

Any reports of snow accumulations are much appreciated and can be
relayed directly to the National Weather Service using twitter
handle NWS Des Moines... hashtag nwsdmx or Post to the NWS Des
Moines facebook Page.
