Blizzard Watch
Issued: 3:50 PM CST Feb. 5, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday
morning...

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a blizzard
watch... which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday
morning.

* Timing... late Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

* Storm total snow accumulations... up to 2 inches.

* Winds/visibility... northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts in
excess of 45 mph. Visibilities may drop below one quarter mile
for an extended period with near whiteout conditions possible at
times.

* Impacts... considerable blowing and drifting snow may create
treacherous travel conditions and may make travel nearly
impossible in some areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and/or
blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities.
This can lead to whiteout conditions and make travel very
dangerous.
