Issued: 3:56 AM CST Feb. 14, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this
evening...

* short term trends... light snow continues over the northeast
early this morning. Southeast winds are causing some blowing
snow across Road surfaces early today. Snowfall is increasing
again over western Iowa early today. This snow will progress
east through early morning... affecting much of western Iowa. The
new area of snow will spread across much of central Iowa for the
rest of this morning. Snowfall rates of up to one inch per hour
will occur with some of the heavier snow bands.

* Storm total snow accumulations... snow amounts are forecast to
range from 2 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts by late
afternoon.

* Winds/visibility... southeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25
mph through noon Sunday. Visibilities as low as one half mile
at times is expected due to blowing snow and falling snow.

* Impacts... hazardous travel conditions are expected due to the
combination of snow and wind which will produce slick... snow
covered roads and limited visibilities.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
