Blizzard Warning
Issued: 3:31 AM CST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning in effect from 7 PM this evening to 6 PM CST
Monday...

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Blizzard
Warning... which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 6 PM CST
Monday. The blizzard watch is no longer in effect.

* Timing... this evening through Monday afternoon. The worst
conditions will occur overnight tonight into Monday morning.

* Storm total snow accumulations... generally less than 2 inches
but with locally higher amounts possible.

* Winds/visibility... northwest wind 25 to 35 mph with gusts to
near 50 mph at times. Visibilities may drop below one quarter
mile for an extended period with near whiteout conditions
possible especially during snow showers.

* Impacts... considerable blowing and drifting snow... combined with
very low visibility... will make travel dangerous and even
impossible in some areas.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.
