Lake Effect Snow Advisory
Issued: 4:41 AM EST Feb. 6, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect Snow Advisory in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a lake
effect Snow Advisory for lake effect snow... and blowing snow... which
is in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon.

Hazardous weather...

* snow will develop early this morning and become moderate to
possibly heavy at times by mid morning. The heaviest band is
expected to occur from near or just south of Calumet north to near
Delaware. Snow totals in these areas are expected to be between 3
and 6 inches through mid afternoon. Locations north and south of
the main band will generally see 1 to 3 inches of new snow.

* West winds gusting to 20 to 30 mph this morning will cause
blowing and drifting of snow... especially for locations along the
west side of the Keweenaw peninsula near Lake Superior.

Impacts...

* roads will become snow covered and slippery resulting in hazardous
   travel.

* Visibility may be reduced where blowing snow occurs... especially
   this morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a lake effect Snow Advisory Means Lake effect snow is
forecast that will make travel difficult in some areas.

* Prepare... plan... and stay informed. Visit www.Weather.Gov/MQT
