Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 2:44 AM CST on November 21, 2009
... Patchy dense fog this morning...
The combination of mostly clear skies... light winds... and
abundant near surface moisture has resulted in areas of fog across
west and central Upper Michigan this morning. This fog has become
locally dense... restricting visibility to one quarter mile or less
in some places. The thickest fog is more prevalent in low lying
areas... especially near inland bodies of water. Expect this patchy
dense fog to linger through sunrise before burning off by mid
morning.
The fog may also result in the wetting of some roads and
sidewalks. Where temperatures have fallen below freezing... there
may be a thin layer of black ice.
If you must drive early this morning... be prepared for dense fog
in places with near zero visibility. Slow down and leave plenty of
distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you. Use your low
beam headlights.
