Lake Effect Snow Warning
Issued: 9:46 PM EST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning in effect until 7 PM EST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a lake
effect snow warning for heavy lake effect snow and blowing snow...
which is in effect until 7 PM EST Wednesday. The lake effect Snow
Advisory is no longer in effect.

Hazardous weather...

* lake effect snow showers will continue through Wednesday
morning... and then diminish in the afternoon. The heaviest snow
will fall after midnight through Wednesday morning across the high
terrain from the Huron Mountains to Negaunee and Skandia.

* Expect total snow accumulations of 6 to as much as 13 inches from
tonight through late Wednesday afternoon over northern and eastern
Marquette County... with the greatest accumulations over the high
terrain from the Huron Mountains to Negaunee and Skandia. Only 1
to 2 inches of snow is expected from Republic to Arnold.

* North winds gusting to around 30 mph will create areas of blowing
snow... especially in open areas near Lake Superior. The snow and
blowing snow will result in brief white-outs near Lake Superior
   through Wednesday morning.

Impacts...

* travel will be very difficult during periods of heavy snow and
blowing snow. Roads will be snow covered and slippery.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous or
   impossible.

* Prepare... plan... and stay informed. Visit www.Weather.Gov/MQT
