Watches & Warnings

Lake Effect Snow Warning
Issued: 9:20 PM EST Feb. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 7 am EST
Thursday...

Hazardous weather...

* lake effect snow showers... heavy at times... will continue
   through late tonight.

* Expect additional snowfall accumulations of 2 to 5 inches through
late tonight. The greatest accumulations will occur over western
   Alger County... from Shingleton westward.

* North winds gusting over 25 mph will create areas of blowing
snow... especially in open areas near Lake Superior. The snow and
blowing snow will result in occasional white out conditions into
the overnight hours... especially along M-28.

Impacts...

* travel will be very difficult during periods of heavy snow
and blowing snow. Roads will be snow covered and slippery.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous
   or impossible.

* Prepare... plan... and stay informed. Visit www.Weather.Gov/MQT
