Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 4:24 PM MDT on May 30, 2015

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 130 PM MDT next Saturday
for southwestern Pennington and northeastern Custer counties...

Very high streamflows and minor flooding continues along rapid creek
downstream from Pactola Reservoir to the Cheyenne river... and along
Spring Creek both upstream and downstream of Sheridan Lake. Minor
flooding is expected to continue for the next several days.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms late tonight... with a
better chance of nearly daily thunderstorms beginning Sunday
afternoon. Since the soil is saturated... any rain that falls will
quickly flow into rapid creek and Spring Creek resulting in
additional rises.

Some locations that will experience flooding include... Rapid
City... Hill City... Rapid Valley... Johnson Siding... Hisega...
Caputa... Folsom... Farmingdale... and Rockerville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to
higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to
flooding when water begins rising.
