The Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Newburgh dam
* from late Thursday night to Saturday March 14.
* At 7:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 27.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 38.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Impact... at 46.0 feet... Highway 662 near the old lock and dam 47
begins to flood. This is approximately 1/2 mile downstream from the
current lock and dam.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Owensboro
* from Saturday afternoon to Thursday March 12.
* At 6:45 am Wednesday the stage was 21.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 40.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Saturday early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 42.3 feet by early Wednesday morning. The
river will fall below flood stage by late Thursday morning.
* Impact... at 41.0 feet... minor flooding occurs affecting mainly
bottomland and surrounding low lying areas.

... Interstate 24 from mile marker 16 to 65 is closed...

Kentucky Department of Transportation confirms that a large
stretch of Interstate 24... from mile marker 16 in Reidland... to
mile marker 65 in Cadiz... is closed. This is the same stretch of
the Interstate that shut down during the December 2004 winter
storm.

Due to heavy snows in western Kentucky... widespread 6 to 12 inch
snowfall amounts have wreaked havoc to area travel. Isolated 15
inch amounts have been reported. Drifts up to a foot and a half
have also been reported. The result has been nearly impassable
Road conditions.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the pennyrile region
of western Kentucky through 6 am.

This is a dangerous storm situation and travel should be avoided
if at all possible.
