Heat Advisory
Statement as of 8:59 AM CDT on July 29, 2015

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

* afternoon temperatures in the lower 90s combined with
oppressive humidity levels will produce heat index values in
the 105 to 110 degree range this afternoon generally along and
east of a line from Mount Vernon to Marion Illinois to Paducah
to Mayfield Kentucky. Generally west of this line an excessive
heat warning is in effect. Please refer to the warning for
additional details.

* A heat index of 105 is generally considered the threshold
where the body begins to succumb to the effects of the heat...
making heat exhaustion and heat stroke a greater concern if
precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures and high
humidity levels are expected. This combination will create a
situation in which heat illnesses are possible. If you work or
plan to spend much time outside... take frequent breaks and drink
plenty of fluids. If possible... stay in an air-conditioned
environment... stay out of the sun as much as possible... and check
up on relatives and neighbors.
