Watches & Warnings

Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:22 PM EST Feb. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to
6 am EST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory, which is in effect from midnight tonight to 6
am EST Wednesday.

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 5 inches.

* Timing... snow is expected to develop late this evening and
overnight, then continue through Tuesday night. The snow has
the potential to fall at a moderate to heavy rate at times
Tuesday and Tuesday night.

* Impacts... accumulating snow will affect travel late tonight
through Tuesday night, including the rush hour commutes. The
Road conditions will likely deteriorate during times of heavier
snowfall rates. Remember, bridges and other elevated surfaces
tend to become slippery first.

* Visibilities... one half mile or less at times.

* Temperatures... dropping into the mid and upper 20s later
tonight, then rising to around freezing for a time Tuesday.

* Winds... northeast 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Report snow and ice accumulation to the National Weather Service
by calling our trained spotter line, posting to the NWS Mount
Holly facebook Page, or using twitter @nws_mountholly.

Snowfall and ice accumulation forecast maps in addition to
experimental probabilistic snowfall information for the latest
event are available online at www.Weather.Gov/phi/winter

... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until noon EST
Tuesday...

* location... coastal areas of New Jersey and Delaware.

* Coastal flooding... widespread moderate coastal flooding is
anticipated with the high tide cycle this evening. Widespread
moderate to low end major coastal flooding is anticipated with
the high tide Tuesday morning.

* Timing... the times of high tide along the New Jersey oceanfront
are around 700 PM to 800 PM this evening, and around 730 am to
830 am on Tuesday morning.

* Waves... wave heights are forecast to build to 5 to 10 feet on
the near-shore waters off New Jersey and Delaware.

* Impacts... widespread roadway flooding is possible with the high
tide this evening. Widespread Road flooding and some damage to
vulnerable structures is possible with the high tide Tuesday
morning. Wave action could result in significant beach erosion.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Warning means that moderate or major tidal
flooding is occurring or imminent. Be prepared for rising water
levels and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
Follow the recommendations of local emergency management
officials.

Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be
deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in
danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs.
