Statement as of 5:36 PM MST on December 21, 2009 ... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late tonight through Wednesday afternoon... A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late tonight through Wednesday afternoon. * Affected area: this Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys and the southern Wasatch front. * Snow accumulations: by Wednesday afternoon... there is the potential for storm total accumulations of 5 to 10 inches in the Tooele Valley... southern Utah valley... as well as on the benches of Salt Lake Valley. Valley floors outside of Tooele Valley are expected to receive less than 4 inches of snow. * Timing: snow will begin very late tonight with the heaviest snow occurring from late Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. The snow will continue into Wednesday before diminishing Wednesday afternoon. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow.
