Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 3:57 AM CST on March 05, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 PM CST this
afternoon...

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 PM CST this
afternoon.

* Timing: the worst conditions are expected to materialize around
daybreak and then begin to taper off late morning into the early
afternoon hours.

* Accumulation: a tenth to one quarter inch of ice... mainly on
elevated surfaces. Additional light sleet accumulation is
possible as well.

* Impacts: hazardous travel conditions will develop mainly on bridges
and overpasses. Much of the area will have temperatures near or
just below freezing when the precipitation falls... but areas that
see temperatures fall below 30 will have the worst travel issues.
A few power outages will be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of sleet and
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Special Statement
Statement as of 9:45 AM CST on March 05, 2015

... Batch of heavier sleet mixed with freezing rain likely to cause
additional deterioration of travel conditions...

At 945 am... National Weather Service radar indicated an area of
sleet... some heavy and occasionally mixed with some freezing rain
and a little snow... occurring over much of northeast Louisiana
south of Interstate 20... and central and southwest Mississippi.
The area of precipitation was moving northeast at 30 mph.

This area of wintry precipitation is expected to continue to
affect this region... including the Jackson Metro area... for much
of the remainder of the morning. For areas along and northwest of
a Bude to Brandon line... this precipitation combined with
temperatures that have slowly fallen into the 26 to 31 degree
range... will likely cause additional deterioration of travel
conditions... especially on bridges and overpasses.
