* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Alpine County in northern California...
northern Mono County in northern California...
south central Lyon County in west central Nevada...
southeastern Douglas County in western Nevada...

* until 315 PM PDT

* at 230 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm
capable of producing quarter size hail, torrential rainfall and
damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located over
Coleville... and moving north at 10 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Coleville... Topaz Lake... Walker... Topaz Lake campground... Holbrook
Junction... Junction U.S 395 and CA 89... Monitor Pass and Smith
Valley.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM PDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central California and western Nevada...
including the following areas... in east central California...
greater Lake Tahoe area and Mono. In western Nevada... greater
Lake Tahoe area... greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area and
Mineral and southern Lyon counties.

* Until 9 PM PDT this evening

* thunderstorms will be slow moving and capable of producing very
heavy rain in a short period of time. These brief heavy rains
could lead to flash flooding and debris flows... especially in
areas of steep terrain and near burn scars from recent
wildfires.

* Roads could be impacted by flooding... debris flows and rock
slides making travel hazardous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that flooding of small streams... creeks
and other drainage areas is possible within the watch area.
People in the watch area should monitor weather.Gov/Reno for
updates and be prepared for immediate action should heavy rains
and flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued.
