Statement as of 11:40 AM PDT on July 07, 2015

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Alpine County in northern California...
northern Mono County in northern California...

* until 230 PM PDT

* at 1137 am PDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain near the Washington fire burn perimeter. The heaviest
rainfall is moving northward towards the Washington fire.

Excessive rainfall could result in debris flows and mudslides along
portions of Hwy 89 and Hwy 4 near the fire. Debris flows can
consist of rock... mud... vegetation and other loose materials.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flash flooding and debris flows near recently burned areas are
extremely dangerous and can destroy structures and washout bridges
and roads. Debris flows often contain massive boulders... burned
trees... and large amounts of sediment and ash moving at high rates of
speed. People living below burned areas should take immediate action
to protect life and property.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from noon PDT today
through 9 PM this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of California and western Nevada... including the
following areas... in California... greater Lake Tahoe area...
Lassen-eastern Plumas-eastern Sierra counties and Mono County.
In western Nevada... greater Lake Tahoe area... greater Reno-
Carson City-Minden area and Mineral and southern Lyon counties.

* From noon PDT today through 9 PM this evening

* strong thunderstorms are forecast to develop this afternoon.
These storms will be capable of producing heavy rain and
increase the potential for flash flooding this afternoon and
evening.

* Much of the region has a higher potential for flash flooding due
to the very heavy rainfall over the last two days. Rapid runoff
may occur with only moderate rainfall totals today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Areas at greatest risk for a flash flood include burn
scars... locations impacted by flash flooding Sunday and/or
Monday... poorly drained urban areas and locations near steep
terrain. Mud... rock and debris flows may impact travel... never
attempt to drive through flood waters.

thunderstorms near Meyers... or near South Lake Tahoe.

Areas along the southern extent of the Carson Range received heavy
rainfall yesterday making these areas more prone to flash flooding
and debris flows today. Boaters should seek safe Harbor immediately.
Heavy rainfall, lightning, gusty winds and small hail possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include... Lake Tahoe... South Lake
Tahoe... Gardnerville... Kingsbury... Zephyr Cove... Woodfords...
Emerald Bay... Luther... Stateline... Heavenly Valley and Junction CA
88 and NV 88.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

These storms may intensify... so be certain to monitor local radio
and TV stations... as well as local cable TV outlets... for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

If on or near a lake... get out of the water and move indoors or
