Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:22 PM CDT on August 04, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Wednesday morning through
Thursday morning...

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southern Illinois to the west
of a line from Anna to Marion to Mt Vernon... and southeast
Missouri to the north of a line from Van Buren to Cape
Girardeau.

* From Wednesday morning through Thursday morning

* showers and thunderstorms will produce widespread 2 to 3 inch
rainfalls. Some locally higher amounts will be possible.

* Strong thunderstorms will produce torrential rainfall that may
quickly inundate drainage systems... resulting in flash
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
