Issued: 5:08 AM EST Feb. 14, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to
noon EST Monday...

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Winter
Storm Warning... which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to
noon EST Monday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Event... snow and sleet accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are
expected... with 4 to 8 inches possible across some higher
elevation areas of southwest Virginia. In addition... a few areas
may see some freezing rain with ice accumulations of less than a
tenth of an inch.

* Timing... snow is expected to begin accumulating by early
afternoon today. The snow will gradually transition to a mix of
snow... sleet... freezing rain and rain tonight and Monday morning
before changing to all rain Monday afternoon.

* Impacts... snow and ice will make driving conditions hazardous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow... sleet... and/or freezing rain are expected... causing
hazardous driving conditions. Travel is discouraged. If travel is
unavoidable... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
