Special Statement
Issued: 5:56 PM CST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter weather returns to the Tennessee Valley and southern
Appalachians region late tonight through Wednesday...

A cold front will sweep across the Tennessee Valley and southern
Appalachians late tonight and early Monday morning... bringing with
it a mixture of rain and snow. As the cold air moves into the area
Monday morning... the precipitation will change to all snow during
the afternoon or early evening. Snow showers and snow flurries will
be possible Monday night through Wednesday... due to the combination
of sufficient moisture and subfreezing air in place. There is still
some uncertainty of the strength of this system... but some light
snowfall accumulation is expected across the valley... with higher
amounts expected across the mountains of southwest Virginia and
east Tennessee.

Besides the snow... much colder temperatures are expected through
the middle of the work week. Highs Monday will be late in the
morning or early afternoon... then fall through the afternoon.
Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will range from the upper 20s in
southwest Virginia to the middle and upper 30s across the southern
valley... with lows in the teens and 20s.

Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for the
latest updates on this system.
