... Winter Storm Watch in effect from late Tuesday night through
Wednesday evening...

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Winter Storm
Watch for snow... sleet and freezing rain... which is in effect
from late Tuesday night through Wednesday evening...

For the following counties...
* in Arkansas... Benton... Sebastian... Washington... Carroll...
   Madison... Crawford and Franklin.

Hazardous weather...
* a strong cold front will push into northeast Oklahoma Tuesday
   evening... moving south to near the Red River by Wednesday
   morning. Much colder conditions are expected behind the front
   with gusty north winds.

   Areas of freezing rain... mixed with sleet... will develop across
   northeast Oklahoma late Tuesday night... spreading into southeast
   Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Wednesday morning and afternoon.
   Precipitation is expected to transition to snow... possibly mixed
   with sleet... from north to south during the day Wednesday.

* Up to 5 inches of snow and sleet accumulation will be possible
   across portions of northwest Arkansas... especially in the higher
   terrain areas. Between a tenth and two tenths of an inch of ice
   accumulation will be possible across southeast Oklahoma...
   northwest and west-central Arkansas through Wednesday evening.

Impacts...
* roads... bridges... and overpasses may become slick and hazardous
   in the watch area... making travel treacherous. Power outages are
   possible

Definition...
* a Winter Storm Watch means heavy snow or a significant
   accumulation of ice or sleet is expected in the watch area
   during the next 24 to 48 hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...
* consider changing travel plans. Make sure you have an adequate
   supply of food... water and the necessary medication to last
   through the duration of the winter storm.
