Nowcast | as of 5:45 PM CDT on September 17, 2014

At 5:45 PM...National Weather Service Doppler radars indicated scattered showers and thunderstorms over northwest Arkansas and far eastern Oklahoma. This activity is expanding slowly westward...while movement remains toward the southeast at around 20 mph. Through 7:00 PM...scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect parts of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. There will remain the potential for additional development further west...however during this time...locations along and east of a Welch to Talihina line will have the higher chances of being affected. While most of this activity will result in periods of light to moderate rainfall...the stronger storms that occur will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall...hail and damaging winds. Average hourly rainfall of one tenth to one quarter inch will remain common...with amounts in excess of one inch per hour possible with the heavier downpours. Localized flooding issues may arise with the heavy rainfall.
