Special Statement
Statement as of 3:13 AM EDT on March 31, 2015

... Increased fire danger from noon EDT today through
this afternoon...

Dry high pressure will be over the region today which will
promote temperatures warming into the 60s to around 70 over most
of western North Carolina. In response... relative humidity values
are expected to fall into the mid 20s for several hours. Fine
fuels will be slowly drying and fuel moisture may reach critical
values during the afternoon hours. Winds will be mostly southwest
and increase to around 10 mph with some gusts to 20 mph over the
higher ridge tops. The combination of dry air and fuels will
heighten fire danger.
