Statement as of 3:54 PM MDT on July 28, 2015

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
east central San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
central Quay County in east central New Mexico...
south central Harding County in northeastern New Mexico...

* until 545 PM MDT

* at 351 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to numerous slow-moving thunderstorms extending
from 20 miles south of Mosquero to 15 miles northwest of
Tucumcari. One to two inches of rain have already fallen and
rainfall rates up to one and a half inches per hour can be
expected. Areas just west of Logan extending south to the
Interstate 40 corridor in the vicinity of Tucumcari look to
be especially active into the late afternoon.

* Locations impacted include...
Tucumcari.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 327 and 342.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

326 PM MDT Tue Jul 28 2015

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southwestern Quay County in east central New Mexico...

* until 530 PM MDT

* at 323 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to slow-moving thunderstorms extending 10 miles
southwest of Tucumcari southward to near Quay and Ragland along
The Caprock. The storms were drifting toward the northwest but
additional redevelopment is expected with nearly stationary storm
motions. Rainfall rates up to one and one half inches per hour
can be expected. Of particularl concern will be rapid runoff into
Plaza largo and chaco creeks with possible minor flooding impacts
along State Road 209.

* Locations impacted include...
Quay and Ragland.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings.
Do not attempt to drive through these waters. Water in arroyos may
travel many miles and take hours to reach
your location from upstream rain areas.
