Watches & Warnings

High Wind Warning
Issued: 12:53 PM PST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning now in effect until 2 PM PST Monday...
... Wind Advisory is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has cancelled
the Wind Advisory.

* Winds and timing... northeast winds will increase this through
the late afternoon hours to between 25 and 40 mph with gusts to
between 60 and 70 mph and persist into Monday afternoon.
Advisory level wind gusts will likely then continue through
early Tuesday afternoon.

* Impacts... gusty winds will make driving difficult... especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. The potentially stronger
winds Sunday night into Monday could result in downed trees
and power outages.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means that damaging high winds of 58 mph or
greater are likely or imminent. Secure all loose outdoor
furniture in advance of the onset of strong winds. Monitor the
latest forecasts on NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite media
source.

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 2:31 PM PST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning now in effect until 6 PM PST Monday for gusty
offshore wind and low relative humidity for the mountains of Los
Angeles and Ventura counties including the Santa Monica Mountains
as well as the Santa Clarita valley and Ventura County coastal
valleys...

* winds... north to northeast winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts
between 60 and 70 mph.

* Relative humidity... poor relative humidity recovery tonight...
then relative humidity dropping into the teens and single
digits on Monday.

* Impacts... if fire ignition occur... conditions could be
favorable for extreme fire behavior which would threaten life
and property.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create extreme fire behavior. Please advise the appropriate
officials or fire crews in the field of this red flag warning.
