Statement as of 3:08 AM EDT on August 03, 2015

... Flood Watch remains in effect through this afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of FL and west central Florida... including the
following in FL... coastal ... Citrus... coastal Hernando...
coastal Hillsborough... coastal Levy... coastal Pasco... inland
Citrus... inland Hernando... inland Hillsborough... inland Levy
and inland Pasco. In west central Florida... Pinellas.

* Through this afternoon

* the potential for excessive rainfall through today with
localized accumulation totals exceeding 6 inches.

* Saturated soils and the potential for additional heavy rainfall
will increase the risk of areal and street flooding. If
possible... clear drainage systems of any debris which may
become clogged in flooding rains.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible during the next
24 to 36 hours. Residents living in flood prone areas should take
action to protect property.

439 am EDT Mon Aug 3 2015

The National Weather Service in Ruskin has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northwestern Hillsborough County in west central Florida...
southwestern Hernando County in west central Florida...
western Pasco County in west central Florida...
Pinellas County in west central Florida...

* until 645 am EDT

* at 438 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Tampa... Spring Hill... Clearwater... New Port Richey... Brooksville...
Holiday... Hudson... Lutz... Weeki Wachee... Timber pines... New Port
Richey east... Beacon Square... Hernando County Airport... East
Lake... greater Northdale... Weeki Wachee gardens... north Weeki
Wachee... North Brooksville... Jasmine estates and Palm Harbor.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

... High rip current risk remains in effect through this
afternoon...

* rip current timing... through late afternoon.

* Rip current impacts... marine conditions support stronger or
more frequent rip currents. If caught in a rip current... do
not fight it by trying to swim back to shore. Try to get the
attention of lifeguards by calling out or waving your hands.
If you are able or if no help is available... swim parallel to
the beach until the current weakens... and then swim toward
shore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore... which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins...
jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and the beach
patrol. Pay attention to flags and posted signs.
